Pool Beginners Tips !

HERE'S A FEW BASIC TIPS BEFORE WE GET STARTED ... ... . HOW TO WORK OUT THE SIZE OF YOUR POOL - LITRES!

  1. Multiply the average width (say 4.5m) by The average length (9. 0m) by The average depth (say 1. 2m) by 1000 = no of litres.

  2. disappears very quickly with SUNSHINE AND HEAT. When adding chlorine to your pool do it at NIGHT when everyone has finished swimming. Then it has got all night to kill germs before the
    sun comes out. AND YES CHLORINE MUST BE ADDED NIGHTLY. During our summer months it is a good idea to SUPERCHLORINATE ONCE A WEEK using 3 to 5 Times the amount you would normally put in. SUMMER TIME chlorinate daily and filter for A minimum of 8 hours per day bring a WATER SAMPLE in for testing once a FORTNIGHT and we'll keep an eye on some of the other

  3. that You may require, like stabilizer, salt, buffer or acid etc. WINTER TIME winterise your pool with a Winterising algicide REDUCE YOUR FILTERING TIME 3 TO 4 hours per day and CHLORINATE 2 OR 3 TIMES PER WEEK. NOW LETS HAVE A LOOK AT SOME MORE TECHNICAL STUFF, LIKE, CLEANING ANb MAINTENANCE

  4. Skimmer Basket. That is the basket in the box on the side of the pool. This needs to be EMPTIED on a regular basis.
    Pump Basket.
    That is the basket that is attached to the motor and is usually situated under a clear plastic lid. This basket also needs to be EMPTIED on a regular basis.
    Filter.
    You might have a CARTRIDGE FILTER this will need hosing off on a REGULAR BASIS. Your pressure quage on the top of your filter will indicate whenl When your pressure quage is reading 70 or 80 BUT BEFORE IT 6ETS INTO THE RED is when you clean your filter. If you have a SAND FILTER this will need BACKWASHING on a REGULAR BASIS. Follow the pressure quage bit (as described above)

  5. When the pressure quage indicates that you need to BACKWM5H YOUR FILTER, turn OFF the pump before you change the handle on the filter to the BACKWASH POSITION this reverses the flow of water and cleans the sand usually 3 or 4 minutes. Turn OFF the pump again bifore you turn the handle to RINSE POSITION turn on and allow another minute (1) to rinse the sand. TURN OFF AGAIN before you return to the
    FILTER POSITION.
    D.E. FILTER (diatomateous earth) Follow the some procedure as above (sand filter) but when you are finished you MUST THEN recharge your filter with b.E. POWbER for it to work effectively.
    SALT CHLORINATORS
    Salt Chlorinators produce liquid chlorine. When The chlorine has done it's job the residual returns to salt again. The amount of salt required will depend on the amount of rain we've hod, splashing and backwashing. Bring a sample to the shop and

  6. we will let you know when to add salt.
    CLEANING YOUR SALT CELL, when you see a white crusty build up on your salt cell, its time for a clean. Turn off chlorinator and unscrew cell from the housing immerse cell in a solution of acid (1 PART) and water (4 PARTS) until the white crusty build up has disolved. POOL CLEANERS (Baracuda/Kreepy/other)
    If your pool cleaner is not working, here are a few things to check: Leave or twigs blocking the suction at the bottom of your cleaner. Make sure the skimmer and pump baskets are empty.
    Make sure that your filter is clean. IF ALL ELSE FAILS GIVE US A RIN&I


    DON'T PUT CHLORINE INTO POOL IN DAYTIME.

    DON'T PUT ACID AND CHLORINE IN TOGETHER (DANGEROUS)
    DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR NEIGHBOURS ADVICE WHAT IS GOOD FOR HIS POOL, MAY NOT BE GOOD FOR YOURS
    DON'T LET PEOPLE SWIM IF THE POOL is GREEN, CLOUDY OR LOW CHLORINE.

    DON'T PUT CHLORINE OR OTHER CHEMICALS IN, WHEN PEOPLE APE SWIMMING DON'T BE AFRAID TO ADD MORE CHLORINE IF THE POOL LOOKS OFF COLOUR (IT WILL ALL BE GONE TOMORROW)
